I arrived at the Snowshoe Ski Resort on Sunday February 23rd. It took me over three hours to get there from the hotel I stayed in the previous night. I checked into the lodge called Allegheny Springs. The room I stayed in was a suite. It had its own kitchen, a living space, an outside patio, two televisions with DVD players hooked to them, a fireplace, and a queen sized bed. That night, I went to explore its village as they call it. I had dinner at this pizzeria called Crust Mountain Pizza. Snowshoe’s village had some nice stores and restaurants but all I ordered was the pizza I ate. After dinner, I went down to the pool area which had two hot tubs and a pool. One of the hot tubs was connected to the pool. I could tell there were fellow skiers in there with me because some of them were wearing knit caps and ski goggles on their heads.
On Monday February 24th, I went exploring the village that I went to the previous night. I also drove around the mountain and went into this store near Silver Creek which was the other area to stay on top of the mountain. I didn’t go skiing until the next day. It was about exploring the different things for me to do there. As for Silver Creek, I just went there without getting out of my car. I also went swimming at this pool area next to the lodge I was staying at. The pool area had an inside and outside. It had at least two slides, one inside and the other outside. I didn’t slide down either because they looked more appropriate for small kids. I just got into the hot tub there and spent the rest of my time there just walking around in the pool. At 5:00, I went snowmobiling. It was a tour of the green ski area. We went around in what felt like circles to me because we had been snowmobiling to the same places we had just left.
On Tuesday at Snowshoe, I went skiing in the late morning. I rented the skis and ski poles. I had lunch down at the bottom of the mountain. Then I went back out skiing for a little bit before going back to my suite to rest. Later that night, I went back out skiing at Silver Creek. It had at least two chairlifts running but more ski runs. I also had dinner at the bottom of Silver Creek.
On Wednesday February 26th, I went to Silver Creek to ski in the morning but first I had lunch at a restaurant there. The restaurant had a sports theme to it. After lunch, I purchased a ticket to go tubing but I had to wait until 3:00. I took a bus to go to the ski area that faced the opposite direction of the rest of the skiing. It only had one ski run and one chairlift. As I went down the run, I felt pressure on my left ankle somehow. I was just glad to get to the bottom of the mountain which not only had the chairlift but a place to eat too. As far as the tubing went, I enjoyed it. As I went down the first slide, I had to move a little bit to keep sliding because the tube stopped in the middle of the slide. The guy at the top of the tubing had to throw some salt down in different parts of the rides to keep the people sliding down. Later that night, I went back out skiing at Silver Creek and had dinner at the same place as the previous night. Then, I did a little more skiing before heading back to call it a night.
Thursday February 27th was pretty similar to the Tuesday I was at Snowshoe. I had a few ski runs and rode the chairlifts that were running. I remember seeing at least one chairlift that wasn’t running at all. I had lunch in the same place I had lunch two days prior. Then, I went back out for a little more skiing before deciding to head back to my suite for a little rest. I had dinner at a restaurant in the village before going back to Silver Creek for night skiing. It started snowing there that night to my surprise. After the night skiing, I left my rental skis and ski poles outside the door to the place I rented them from. Before I left Snowshoe the next morning, I went to buy some Snowshoe merchandise in the village. The time I spent was great so I would definitely return to Snowshoe Mountain.
